“Technology in the News” began as a feature of the National Space & Technology Association (NSTAworld) in Houston in 2009.
Wally founded NSTA in 2003 and continued leading the organization until its discontinuance in 2013. In those ten years, three annual regional technology conferences were held, along with monthly networking breakfasts, lunches and after-hour mixers. The organization drew corporate members from virtually every hi-tech industry across the city. As the economic recession of 2008/09 impacted businesses across the nation, coupled with the discontinuance of the space shuttle program in 2012, the framework of NSTA’s membership also dramatically changed. In 2013, the decision was made to close the organization.
Through the auspices of FTLOC Productions of Houston, videographer and producer Tony Baker produced this remarkable video promo for NSTA following its Second Annual Technology Conference at Houston’s Hyatt Regency Hotel on October 13, 2009.

The following TV and radio spot was aired across the city just prior to the conference, which featured the four prime candidates running for the office of Mayor that year.
