From 1985-1987, meteorologist Michael Williamson and radio news director Wally Wood co-founded the Shuttle News Service [SNS] in Houston for the purpose of broadcasting “live” reports of each mission of NASA’s Space Shuttle from Houston’s Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center. Their broadcasts were carried over local college and university radio stations. In 1987, the news service was absorbed by the Aero Space Communications Network [ASCN] in Houston, a consortium of space and technology companies bringing emphasis to Houston’s “3rd image” as Space City, USA!
